Family
This portrait of the family was painted by Sanna Koski, a Mendocino artist. Standing from left to right at the back are Pat, my brother; my sister-in-law Nora; Moi, my husband Rick; my sister, Naynee Fides; and my father. Patrick (with the santa hat) is my brother’s first born and my mother is seated holding her second grandson, Matthew.
This water color painting was based on a favorite photo taken Christmas Day December 1990. Sadly this was the whole family’s last Christmas together. Papa died in May 1991. Patrick and Matthew’s siblings were born later – Sabrina in 1995 and Nicolas in 2001. I asked the artist to do a time wrap and include them in the portrait. They are the framed pictures on the wall. My current dogs also got an artistic license mention. Pangga and Teemu’s Christmas stockings are hanging on the mantle.
